The San Andreas State Police was founded in 1923 and is the State Police for the State of San Andreas, covering San Fierro, Los Santos and it's county, Blaine County and it's numerous cities. The San Andreas State Police has various ways to enforce the laws of the state of San Andreas through Traffic Units, Patrol Units, Gang Units, etc. It has a highly-trained SWAT team that has been trained at the FIB's elite training center near Capitol City. The San Andreas State Police has over a thousand members due to needing to cover the entire state. There are various field offices in Los Santos, Blaine County, San Fierro with the Agency's HQ being in the San Andreas State Capital. Below you'll find some information detailing the various units of the State Police.
General Patrol Unit:
The General Patrol Unit (GPU) serves to answer any calls in rural San Andreas that Sheriff's or local police cannot answer. They are permitted to only use marked vehicles such as Dodge Chargers, Ford Crown Victorias, Ford Taurus. They are usually equipped with a Combat Pistol and a nightstick. It is by far the largest unit in the State Police.
Traffic Enforcement Unit:
The Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) serves to patrol the highways and numerous roadways in the State. It maintains an eye for usage of cellphone while driving and drunk driving and such. It has maintained an effective record at keeping bad drivers off the road. They are permitted to use both marked and unmarked vehicles such as Dodge Chargers, Ford Crown Victoria, Ford Taurus only. They are usually equipped with a Combat Pistol and a nightstick. All CA Exempts must go through the State Police (or an admin.)
Drug Enforcement Unit:
The Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) maintains an bond between the Drug Observation Agency and the FIB to keep an eye on drugs in the state and the illegal possession of such. It also keeps an eye on doctors who could over-prescribe narcotic painkillers. It also keeps eyes on pharmacies and as such, investigates any reports of prescription fraud along with the DOA and FIB and local police/sheriff. They are permitted to use the marked vehicles and any unmarked vehicles they so wish with the permission of commander (or an admin.). They are usually equipped with an Vom Fuehrer Carbine Rifle and Combat Pistol.
Strike Team Andreas:
Strike Team Andreas is the State's Police highly trained SWAT team that is comparable to NOOSE if not better.
They undergo live-fire training and rappel training. The requirement to join the Strike Team is to have previous military service. The training lasts three weeks and is capable of deploying to anywhere in the state within thirty minutes. Strike Team Six is permitted to use any means necessary to capture/kill a criminal regardless if lives are at stake or not. They are permitted to use any weapons needed besides explosives and AK-47 and Marksman Pistol. They use marked vehicles such as the Riot Van and Imponte Duke (Duke o' Death) for raids, high-risk traffic chases.
General Enforcement Unit:
The General Enforcement Unit is an combination of all units and is the smallest unit in the entire police force.
They usually have one agent serving each district. To become apart of the GEU, one must possess a training in all above fields. They are permitted to do whatever is needed to stop a criminal. They do general patrols, traffic patrols, drug raids, high-risk raids. They are permitted to use any weapon needed. They are also permitted to use marked vehicles and any unmarked vehicles needed.
